Information for visitors: the piers

The Church pier.
The guest pier is located close to the church, on the north side of the island. It is called the Church pier, and is owned by the National Board of Antiquities. Next to the pier are toilets and a summer kiosk, kept by the Pro Seili – Heritage Society.

Visitors who come by the connection ferries Östern (from May to beginning of September) or Falkö (rest of the year), come to the Ferry pier on the south side of the island. It is about a half kilometer from the buildings of the Archipelago Research Institute and one kilometer from the church. The pier is also used by charter boats and the larger boats of the research institute. Private persons may only use the pier with special permission.

Asemalaituri, the ”Station pier”, on the east side of the island, is also used by the researchers of the Archipelago Research Institute. The institute has projects i.e. on herring, Bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus) and mud crabs (Rhithropanopeus harrisii). The researchers use the pier when they collect samples etc. In order not to distrurbe the work of the researchers, private persons are not allowed to use the Station pier. The exception is the Doors open day, when visitors may use the piers of the institute.
